Gas line explodes in West Bloomfield, setting off boom and panic among neighbors

First responders say there weren’t any injuries, but that a gas main rupture prompted a significant boom to be heard in parts of Ontario County over the weekend.

It happened Saturday evening, causing alarm to many of those who live in the area of West Bloomfield.

A high-pressure gas main ruptured, lifting the gas line out of the ground.

It made an explosion-sound, but no injuries were reported. It occurred off of Pond Road near Honeoye Creek.

The line automatically shut down when the explosion occurred- just as is intended.
