Deputies: Vehicle split in half, fully-engulfed in flames after violent crash in Wayne County

Deputies say they investigated a two-car personal injury crash that happened in the town of Walworth during the late-evening hours on Wednesday.

It happened on Atlantic Avenue near the intersection of West Walworth Road in the town of Walworth around 10:30 p.m.

Raymond Burke, 23, was traveling west on Atlantic Avenue before colliding with a vehicle attempting to make a left turn into a driveway. That second vehicle was operated by Justin Luzius, 31, of Spencerport.

Deputies say his vehicle overturned and was split into two separate pieces, as result of the collision. It then burst into flames when deputies arrived.

Witnesses said Burke was traveling at a high rate of speed that wasn’t reasonable at the time of the crash. Luzius was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries as result of the wreck.

Burke was ticketed for speed not reasonable. The investigation into the crash remains active.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Western Wayne Ambulance, Lincoln Fire Department, Walworth Fire Department and Marion Town Ambulance Service.
