The 21st Juneteenth festival was held at Ernie Davis Park in Elmira on Saturday in celebration of the now federal holiday.
Juneteenth is the day that marks when troops moved into Galveston to free the remaining slaves in 1865.
While the celebration has been happening for 21 years, this is the first year it is a federally recognized holiday.
The event featured 55 vendors and live music along with local artistry, prizes and African American history in the community.
