Tax collections for the month of May have doubled by 57.8% compared to May of 2020.
State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said collections totaled $1.4 billion, an increase of $530 million. This is the highest monthly year to year increase in recent history.
The large collections in May help show the economy improving after the pandemic hit in March of 2020, according to DiNapoli.
Central New York had a 57% increase and Auburn’s local sales tax revenues doubled to $800,000 last month compared to last May.
