With over $9 million dollars from the American Rescue Plan, the chair of Cortland County’s Finance and Administration Committee wants to come up with a plan.
Legislator George Wagner wants to create a subcommittee for how the money should be spent.
Wagner wanted the creation of the subcommittee to happen due to two proposals being pulled on how some of the money should be spent.
The proposals pulled were paying for road repairs and paying county employees who couldn’t use comp time. Wagner said he remembers a time when the county had no money and the spending shouldn’t be rushed.
By creating a subcommittee, Wagner says it won’t leave it up to only one or two people to decide how to spend the money.
