Cayuga Health receives two awards for public relations during pandemic

Thanks to their COVID-19 response communications, Cayuga Health is receiving two National Healthcare Advertising Awards.

They received a Gold award for their Public Relations Campaign and a Silver award for the Cayuga Health Giving Day Fundraising Campaign that worked on COVID-19 recovery and response.

John Turner, Vice President of Public Relations, stated that responding to the public health emergency was important, but ongoing communication with the community to keep them updated.


One of the things Cayuga Health’s public relation team did was create press packets with photo and video for local and national media outlets.

Cayuga Health raised $146,260 for Giving Day in 2020 which benefited the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation, Schuyler Hospital Foundation and Seneca Viewed Skilled Nursing Facility.

Award recipients were chosen based on “creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact”.
