A former Geneva police officer pleaded guilty to a felony count of strangulation in Ontario County Court.
Ryan Ambrose, 23, was placed on probation for a year, which would be re-evaluated after a year if he stays out of trouble.
He was arrested in December in connection to an incident that happened two months earlier. He was accused of strangling his girlfriend at her Canandaigua home.
Shortly thereafter, he was fired from his job as a police officer in Geneva. He was holding a probationary position at the time.
