Since 1996 the Hearing Loss Association of America Rochester Chapter has awarded scholarships worth $1,000 to six area high school graduates who have hearing loss in order to continue their education.
One of the recipients for the award in 2021 is Marcus Whitman graduate Catherine Goodman.
83 high schools in the region were looked at by the scholarship committee for candidates who qualified.
To date the Rochester Chapter’s HLAA has given out $127,500 to 143 students with hearing loss with support from J. Stuart and Phyllis MacDonald Fund and further donations.
