The Owasco Country Club, which has been in operation for 120 years is changing hands.
The golf course located at 6759 E. Lake Road was purchased by Philip Kless and Andrew Myers. The two own Sunset Ridge Golf Club and Lyndon Golf Course.
The course was built in 1901 by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek. It’s first professional was Walter Hagen.
It’s only a nine-hole course, but has a lot of potential. Kless and Myers told The Citizen that it was all part of the draw to buy the club. “Bottom line, we have purchased a great golf course with an unbelievable history and a beautiful location,” Myers told them. “With proper management and maintenance we are confident that it will thrive and be a source of pride for our members and the Auburn area in general.”
