The Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine will begin a new trial to test its effectiveness in children beginning this month in Rochester.
Researchers are enrolling participants in pediatric trials beginning June 7 at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Children between the ages of 5 and 11 will be enrolled in Phase 2 and 3 trials, involving mid-to-large population groups in different communities.
URMC will be participating in future trials for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years.

Earlier in the year, Rochester Clinical Research used 45 local children between the ages of 12 and 15 for a vaccine trial. The 11 and under age group is recruiting over 100 patients.
