Rep. John Katko (NY-24) said he was disappointed- and would not give up after the Senate voted to block the creation of a commission to investigate the U.S. Capitol riots.
Katko would have led the 9/11 style commission that would have looked at security at the U.S. Capitol, as well as the structure of the Capitol Hill Police Department.
“There are profound problems with our security matrix at the Capitol and a bipartisan balanced fair commission to take a look at it seems inherently logical to me, and I’m sorry it fell for political reasons but ya know what? We’re going to keep pushing to try to make some reforms,” Katko said.
The vote ended up 54-35.
