Major downtown streetscape project breaking ground soon in Geneva

A major visual change to downtown Geneva is on track to begin in June, according to the latest from city officials.

Earlier this month Nardozzi Paving and Construction submitted a bid of $10,289,500, beating out three others for the Routes 5&20 Corridor Reconfiguration and Downtown Streetscape Project.

Among the areas that will get an overhaul are Castle St. from 5&20 to North and South Main streets, as well as Main St. to Seneca St., and Exchange St. between Castle and Lake streets.

“A tremendous amount of pre-construction planning and document processing is now underway,” Joe Venuti said. He’s the city’s director of public works, and recently spoke with the Finger Lakes Times about the project. “I know that both the contractor and the city staff are excited to get this long-awaited project underway. We anticipate a project pre-construction meeting to be held within the next few weeks.”

Groundbreaking is expected to happen in June.
