When will all of those tollbooths be removed from the New York State Thruway?
There are a lot of them- and a few were removed last year after the Thruway went to cashless tolling.
That rollout has gone well- and many motorists are wondering how much longer it will take to get all of the old infrastructure taken down.
The state tells News10NBC that its a work in progress, but one that will play out over time.
The work began by contractors being sprawled out across the state in March. There are 52 toll plazas and 230 booths that need to come down.
It should wrap-up by the end of summer.
