Viagra alternatives over the counter – OTC pills for erectile dysfunction

If you have been searching for pills like Viagra that are available over the counter, you will have most likely found several possible products. This article will help you make sense of the viagra over the counter alternatives and what you should look for before buying.

Erectile dysfunction is common. One study estimates that 18.4% of men in the United States suffer from erectile dysfunction at some point during their life, and it’s more likely to happen as you age (study2007). It can be embarrassing for a man who feels like his masculinity has been compromised by this medical condition; but they don’t want to talk about it because treating erectile dysfunction has a stigma attached.

Pills Like Viagra Over the Counter

Also known as Natural Viagra – there are several brands that are marketed as alternatives to Viagra. These do not contain sildenafil citrate but natural ingredients that produce similar benefits to erectile dysfunction (ED)

The most effective and popular ED brands are:

  • Performer 8 – a natural erectile dysfunction pill formulated to treat ED and improve male sexual function.
  • Viasil – another naturally formulated orally taken supplement aimed at erectile dysfunction and male performance.
  • Male Extra – one of the leading male enhancement products available online or otc.

There are several more herbal supplements that I could mention that help blood flow to the penis and are positioned as natural ED treatment, but I will stick with the top 3 brands. This is largely due to the reputations and effectiveness of the brands mentioned.

Although there are many pills like Viagra over the counter, you may have found that they’re not all alike. There are herbal remedies and dietary supplements for erectile dysfunction and prescription medications.

Ingredients Used in the Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction

Some supplements marketed as “natural Viagra” include ingredients such as horny goat weed, red ginseng, yohimbine, l-arginine, DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), maca root extract or tribulus terrestris; but studies have not directly compared these herbs with prescription ED medications such as Viagra. Some of these herbal remedies do show promise for helping to get an erection though. For example, a study on Korean Red Ginseng, published in the Korean Journal of Urology found that it “significantly improved sexual function, helped erectile dysfunction and increased libido”.

It is important to note that this study did not compare horny goat weed with prescription ED medications like Viagra; but there are some studies which show promise for helping men get erections. For example a study on Tribulus terrestris (TT), a plant extract used as an aphrodisiac herb, showed a significant improvement on erectile dysfunction symptoms after six weeks when compared with placebo treatment. This was shown in human subjects who were randomly assigned.

A review article from 2004 summarizes eight clinical trials investigating TT effects: five out of these eight reported positive results concerning frequency or rigidity of erection.

The above study on Tribulus terrestris showed a significant improvement in erectile dysfunction symptoms after six weeks when compared with placebo treatment. For example, of the five out of eight clinical trials that reported positive results concerning frequency or rigidity of erection, four were for TT extract. Overall, this review article shows promise from many different types of herbal remedies which may be viable alternatives to Viagra over the counter medication.

L Arginine is often mentioned as an important ingredient for a man’s sexual function.

Is there any evidence that l-arginine can help with male erectile dysfunction? None, according to this paper reviewed by CNN in 2010. Yet it appears often as active ingredients in both prescription and over-the-counter supplements marketed specifically for ED relief., which may be due to its other benefits such as “improving blood flow.” However, if you’re taking nitroglycerin medication or have recently had heart surgery (both conditions limit your intake), speak to your doctor before adding more arginine into your diet or supplement regimen because excessive amounts could lead to dangerous consequences.

This is not the only substance that has been tested for ED relief but failed to show up as a viable treatment option. A study published in BMJ Open, found no evidence that saw palmetto extract was effective at improving erectile function or alleviating symptoms associated with benign prostate enlargement. The researchers concluded it would be “prudent” to refrain from self-prescription of these supplements and instead consult your doctor before using them.

Blueberries are often heralded as one of the healthiest foods on earth because they’re high in antioxidants which have been shown to help protect against heart disease and cancer among other chronic illnesses. Blueberries also happen to contain anthocyanins, compounds known for their ability to improve blood flow. It’s this same effect that makes blueberries a valuable otc Viagra alternative for men with erectile dysfunction, although it should be noted they’re not as potent as prescription medications like Viagra or Cialis.

A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that drinking one cup of coffee an hour before sex had no impact on ED rates among males and females. The researchers hypothesize that caffeine may have different effects on people depending upon how much is consumed; however, more research will need to be done to confirm these findings

The general consensus seems to be that there are some “herbal” alternatives available over-the-counter that produce great results but very few can reliably produce results comparable to what you get from prescription medication.

Why the Need for Pills Like Viagra?

Viagra over the counter alternatives is important for ED sufferers who do not want to take prescription medications.

Many people with chronic health conditions cannot use Viagra (sildenafil citrate), and many others simply prefer herbal alternatives because they have fewer side effects. These include: horny goat weed, red ginseng, yohimbine, l-arginine, and DHEA. In addition, there has been research that shows these supplements may also work just as well or even better than drugs like Viagra in some cases! As of yet we don’t know how effective these supplements will be long term, but it looks promising so far.

The most common reasons people try a supplement instead of drugs such as Viagra is due to side effects, cost, availability, or personal preference.

Some people also try to avoid the risk of drug addiction that is attributed to prescription drugs like Viagra. They are concerned about developing a dependency on medication and being forced into an uncomfortable situation where they can’t get their prescriptions refilled if for some reason, they need it in the future.

One common complaint about herbal supplements as opposed to Viagra-type pills is effectiveness not lasting long enough after taking them (usually around 12 hours). If you plan your sexual activity accordingly then this may not be much of a problem, but many women find this issue annoying because sex never seems convenient at those times!

There have been studies performed that show these natural alternatives work just as well (or even better) than prescription drugs, but these studies are usually funded by the manufacturers of the supplements.

Authentic and Genuine Viagra

Viagra is the brand name for sildenafil citrate, which also goes under the generic drug of Viagra. The US Food and Drug Administration FDA requires a prescription in order to obtain the substance. It can cause side effects that can result in certain health risks if not taken properly or if you’re allergic to any components found within these medicines; this is why it’s important to consult your healthcare provider before purchasing any type of medicine due to possible interactions between medications or an allergy possibility.

Additionally, there are sources claiming they offer OTC Viagra when in fact those sites will only be selling counterfeit products instead so always double-check where you purchase from.

Buy Viagra Online

Viagra is a popular prescription drug to fight erectile dysfunction, but the branded medication and its generic counterpart are also available. Generic Viagra might be preferable if you’re looking for affordability. A single pill of brand-name Viagra can cost over $50 more than the equivalent generics.

Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra and “generic Viagra,” is often used to treat a variety of conditions outside erectile dysfunction. For example, Revatio treats pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), which causes high blood pressure and shortness of breath that can be life-threatening without treatment. But it turns out sildenafil may also have uses for ED patients who want an off-label alternative: some studies show generic versions work just as well as branded medications like Viagra or Levitra!

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction, also known as ED or impotence is a common sexual disorder that affects approximately one-third of men between the ages 45 and 70. It’s defined by persistent inability to achieve an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. Some people may experience occasional episodes of erectile difficulties, but they are likely not clinically classified as having the condition otherwise it would be considered chronic depending on how often these issues occur with certain severity levels.

As we age our bodies will naturally undergo changes such as decreasing testosterone production which can result in different hormone imbalances affecting erections among other things like vascular conditions, diabetes mellitus, obesity due to low muscle mass/weakness (caused by lack of exercise) or stress from work

Sometimes ED can be caused by an underlying psychiatric or physical issue such as depression, anxiety, medications for blood pressure or high cholesterol levels (sometimes used in the treatment of diabetes), thyroid conditions, a neurological disease that causes difficulty with urination due to enlarged prostate/prostate surgery. Additionally, side effects like incontinence may interfere with sexual intercourse and the ability to maintain an erection. The list goes on and we will not cover all of them here, but it is important to know there are many potential cause(s) so if you have been trying over the counter remedies for erectile dysfunction without success after at least three months then it might be time for more specialist evaluation.

In recent studies where Viagra was compared head-to-head against herbal supplements such as horny goat weed, red ginseng, yohimbine, l-arginine and DHEA in a laboratory setting (with not as many confounding variables), Viagra worked better for most men. However, there are no studies comparing these prescription medications with the herbal supplements so it is difficult to say which one will work best for you but if your case of ED has been persistent after trying all the over-the-counter remedies available then it’s recommended that you consult with a specialist like a urologist, doctor, or sexual health physician.

Over the Counter Viagra Alternatives – Summary

To summarize what you should be looking for when choosing a pill that works like Viagra:

  1. Availability – can it be obtained from the manufacturers website and shipped to your location?
  2. Number of milligrams per pill rather than number pills to be taken at once time – this reduces adverse effects and the chance you’ll feel anything but arousal.
  3. How long does it take for each dose to start working? If you need a quick fix, make sure to find out how quickly after taking the first dose will symptoms manifest.
  4. Is the product made from natural ingredients?
