COVID relief funds for counties, towns, and villages could be coming soon

Local governments across the Finger Lakes and Upstate New York could see their COVID relief dollars from the federal government arrive soon.

In fact, those COVID relief funds part of the American Relief Act could come this week, according to Albany Times-Union.

The U.S. Treasury opened the portal for state and local governments to request their aid. New York is set to receive $12.7 billion.

Counties across the region will receive hundreds-of-millions of dollars.

Local governments are still waiting for clarified rules on how the funds can be used- even though general guidance was provided earlier in the process. Many county leaders are waiting for the guidance before committing the funds to any specific purposes.
