State police say an Owasco man was intoxicated behind the wheel- and two children were in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Swamp Rd.
After nearly colliding with a state trooper’s cruiser head-on along Swamp Rd. in Sennett, Michael Sierzenga, 28, pulled into a driveway as the officer attempted a traffic stop.
That’s when the driver stepped out of the vehicle and began walking toward the house on the property. The trooper who initiated the traffic stop told Sierzenga to get back in his vehicle.
Troopers say he complied, and that’s when authorities determined there was an adult and two other children in the vehicle.
Following field sobriety tests, Sierzenga was found to have a BAC twice the legal limit. He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, a felony count of DWI under Leandra’s Law, as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Additional court action is expected at a later date.
