Mets place J.D. Davis on 10-day injured list, Luis Rojas reveals Brandon Nimmo injury update

Mets CF Brandon Nimmo(left index finger contusion) and 3B J.D. Davis(left hand sprain) each left Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with injuries. Each remains out of the Mets’ lineup entering this week’s four-game series at the St. Louis Cardinals, starting with a 7:45 p.m. matchup Monday on SNY.

Manager Luis Rojas provided an update on the two Monday.

“Nimmo is better,” Rojas said. “Improving, but slowly. Not able to start. … His availability out of the bench, we shall see.”

Nimmo was a late-game defensive substitution in Sunday’s wild 8-7 win over the Phillies, but he is “questionable” on hitting Monday, according to Rojas.

Rojas added that Davis was in the “same boat.” Then the Mets announced Monday that Davis had been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Sunday.

“We’re still evaluating him just to see what he can do out there with that sprain that he has in his hand,” Rojas said of Davis. “But they’re both in a similar spot as they were yesterday.”
