Among other stats, deGrom led the NL in ERA (0.51) and strikeouts (59).
Through five starts, deGrom is 2-2, scattering five runs (two earned) on 16 hits with 59 strikeouts to four walks in 35 innings pitched.
The high point of a strong start to 2021 was a 15-strikeout performance April 23 in the Mets’ 6-0 win over the Washington Nationals, a complete-game two-hitter with zero walks on 109 pitches (84 strikes).
