This week Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the New York State Fair would happen.
It would take place at 50% capacity, according to Cuomo, but that would be subject to change between now-and-then.
So, the big, looming question for fire departments and other organizations- what does that mean for them?
There are dozens of fairs and carnivals that take place in the Finger Lakes each year. Many of these are fundraisers, too, making matters worse.
What’s at stake? Well, many of those volunteer fire departments, which host annual carnivals to raise money- will use those funds to purchase equipment or cover other budget costs.
It appears as though the announcement itself will be good news- but the state has not clarified how, or if they will impose similar rules on small carnivals and fairs.
