While the last several months have been spent waiting for answers regarding the proposed expansion at the Seneca Meadows Landfill in Seneca Falls- the process took one step forward recently.
On April 21, officials with the company filed a written response to the Department of Environmental Conservation to questions about the proposed expansion.
The response is currently being reviewed by the DEC. If the DEC is satisfied with the findings- a series of formal reviews and public hearings will take place.
Altogether, Seneca Meadows is looking to use the 50-acre infill area, which would give the facility 15 more years of operational life.
The Town of Seneca Falls has a local law on the books, which requires closure at the end of 2025.
