The village of Clifton Springs has a new mayor.
James Keyes, 36, was appointed to serve as mayor after the retirement of former mayor Bill Hunter, who retired after serving in that role for 26 years.
He’s only a few weeks into the job, but is working to sort through his plans. At this point, though, Keyes is appreciative of the opportunity. He lives in the village with his wife.
One area of focus over the next several months will be working with department heads in village government to better understand the needs- and work through some possible solutions. “We’re not too keen on increasing taxes, so we’re trying to find ways to do things as low cost or no cost as possible,” Keyes added.
