Call it another blow to local, faith-based organizations and congregations.
The Catholic Diocese of Rochester is in the process of shutting down a number of churches in Auburn and Northern Cayuga County.
The Auburn Citizen reports that the exact churches to close has not yet been announced, but said that the matter has been in discussion since late-last fall.
Two public meetings are scheduled for the public to provide feedback on Monday and Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The sessions will take place at the Hyacinth Church on Pulaski St.
There are nine churches in the area that could close.
