Have you filed your taxes yet?
If not, there’s still time- even as the ‘normal’ deadline passes.
The state and federal government moved the official tax deadline to May 17, which gives taxpayers an extra month to get their information processed.
“This continues to be a tough time for many people, and the IRS wants to continue to do everything possible to help taxpayers navigate the unusual circumstances related to the pandemic, while also working on important tax administration responsibilities,” IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in a statement when the change was made.
That extension also gives the IRS time to process and implement the changes and updates made in the American Rescue Plan.
