$2,000 returned to contractor after dropping it in Auburn restaurant parking lot

Last week the owner of Smitty’s Fish House West at 343 Genesee St. notified law enforcement that he found a large sum of money in the parking lot of his business.

It was $2,000, and in a positive update- has been returned to its rightful owner.

Police said that the money was packaged in a very specific manner, and asked that anyone who claim it be able to explain that.

Turns out the money belonged to a contractor who accidentally dropped it after being paid for a job.

“We thank our great community for their help in sharing our message and helping us with this successful resolution,” police said in the Facebook post.
