Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says that some state workers could see delayed paychecks as the budget remains held up.
At this point, the state budget is more than five days late. As result, around 39,000 state workers could see a delay in getting their paycheck if a deal was not approved and passed on Monday.
“As soon as a budget is passed, all efforts will be made to ensure that these employees are paid,” DiNapoli spokeswoman Jennifer Freeman said at the time.
A budget extender would have been a temporary solution to the problem. But even still, a real solution is supposed to be an on-time budget.
State employees that would be impacted include healthcare, education, and correctional workers.
