Police: Auburn man faces felony charges after erratic driving complaint in Seneca Falls

Police say an Auburn man is facing felony charges after an investigation into a traffic complaint on E. Bayard St.

On Sunday a little before 9 p.m. police arrested Joey Townsend, 60, of Auburn was charged with DWI, driving with a BAC over 0.08%, aggravated AUO, as a felony, as well as failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, improper turn, and unlicensed operation.

The charges stem from a traffic complaint for erratic driving on E. Bayard St.

When a traffic stop was initiated on William St., the driver was found to be intoxicated. It was also found that his operating privileges had been suspended for a previous DWI.

Townsend was released on appearance tickets and will answer the charges at a later date.

The Seneca Falls Police Department says they were assisted by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
