A landmark is coming down in Sodus.
Demolition began on Monday at The Sodus Hotel.
People lined the street outside the structure as crews started pulling down portions of the roof.

People lined the streets talking about memories they have of the building.People talked about events held there & others told me stories of it being haunted.Everyone I talked with agreed it was time to come down. #roc @SPECNewsROC pic.twitter.com/2DoxhR1njY

Environmental remediation will take place at the site over the next several months, and the property will be repurposed.
It’s currently owned by the Wayne County Land Trust.
The hotel was built in the early-1800s and was located at the corner of Mill and Main streets.
In recent years the property had become a safety hazard.
