Earlier this week a mother and her 5-year-old child were stranded at the bottom of a gorge in the town of Niles.
After being unable to get back up from the gorge- they called 911 for help.
The two were from Liverpool, according to first responders, who say they were brought back up to safety and checked for injuries.
Several fire departments responded to the incident including New Hope, Sempronious, and Moravia. The Cayuga County High Angle Rescue Team and Four Town Ambulance were also on-scene.
