Deputies arrested a Newark woman on a felony DWI charge, among others, after a crash on March 2 in the town of Palmyra.
First responders were called to the area of State Rt. 31 and Vienna St. in the town of Palmyra for an investigation into a one-car crash.
The driver, identified as Consuello Dewolf, 48, of Newark was traveling west on Rt. 31- when approaching the intersection with Vienna St. lost control- going off the north side of the road.
Her vehicle struck a ditch and came to rest on its roof. She was trapped, and had to be removed with assistance from firefighters.
She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Deputies said that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. However, Dewolf refused to submit a blood sample at the hospital.
She was ultimately charged with felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation due to a previous DWI conviction, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and a number of other vehicle and traffic citations.
She was processed and will answer the charges at a later date.
