Beginning Tuesday anyone 30 or older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
That announcement came from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office, who made the announcement around 1 p.m.
By April 6 anyone over the age of 16 will be eligible.
The expanded eligibility is to help the state fall in line with a federal mandate to open up vaccination to all adults by May 1.
“Today we take a monumental step forward in the fight to beat COVID,” Cuomo said in a statement.
