IRS extends tax filing deadline to May 15

The IRS has extended the tax filing deadline from April 15 to May 15.

This won’t have any impact on amounts owed to the IRS, but due to May 15 falling on a weekend day- the true deadline for filers will be May 17.

Tax season was delayed from its normal start time in January to February 12 due to changes following the second COVID relief bill passed by Congress in December.

The IRS has a number of tools available for filers.
