Sheriff: One airlifted, others hurt after serious crash in Cayuga County

Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious personal injury two-car motor vehicle accident which occurred at about 2:51 p.m. on State Rt. 104 at State Barn Rd. in the Town of Sterling.

Investigation shows that Pascall Luaboshi, 49, of Buffalo was operating a 2009 Ford Flex westbound on State Barn Rd. when he failed to yield the right of way when entering Rt. 104.

His vehicle struck an eastbound 2005 Dodge Caravan. The caravan caught fire but all five occupants were able to escape.

The operator of the caravan was airlifted to Upstate Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other four occupants of the caravan along with the passenger of the Ford were transported to Upstate with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Cayuga County 911 Center, the Cayuga County Emergency Management Office, the New York State Police, Fair Haven Ambulance and Fire Department, CIMVAC Ambulance, Mentor Ambulance, Red Creek Fire Department, Victory Fire Department, Eastern Wayne Ambulance and Mercy Flight.
