Officials say the baby kangaroo that went missing near Penn Yan while its handler was visiting family was found safe.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert around 4 p.m. that a 2-foot tall kangaroo escaped in the area of Williams Hill and Coates roads.
Between 40 and 50 volunteers from around the area gathered- helping volunteers find the missing kangaroo.
Eventually, around 12 p.m. on Sunday- the kangaroo was located in the town of Jerusalem.
Deputy Scott Walker captured the kangaroo with a blanket. The kangaroo is named ‘Kaia’ and was rescued from a bad situation before, which is how the animal ended up at Stokoe Farms.
