One person is dead, and several others were hurt after a shooting and crash in Tompkins County.
Police say they responded to a call for gunshots on Ridge Rd. in Lansing between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Moments later there was a reported crash. Several injuries were reported in that incident, which occurred on Auburn Rd.
Police determined through initial investigation that the vehicles involved in the second incident were the same as those involved in the first.
The Ithaca Voice reports that both vehicles exchanged gunfire with each other before the vehicles lost control. One of them slammed into a telephone pole- while the other wound up in a nearby yard.
One person died. However, police did not confirm if the person was killed in the crash, or as result of gunfire.
Those involved were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
