Friday night was the last full night of the 2021 Wayne-Finger Lakes basketball season and two Seneca County rivalry games were on the slate. Mynderse kept Waterloo at bay to bring home a 6 point win while Romulus and South Seneca battled to the finish with the Falcons holding on for a 4 point win in Ovid.

Also on Friday night, the Wayne Eagles captured their 4th straight Finger Lakes East Championship with a victory over Newark. Wayne enters the Class B1 Sectional Tournament with a 12-0 record.

The marquee game of the night on the girls schedule featured Pal-Mac and Midlakes, although Pal-Mac was short several key players due to quarantine. The Screaming Eagles capped off their regular season with a 57-41 win but it wasn’t enough to secure the top seed in Class B1 as the Lady Red Raiders still had enough sectional points to keep the #1 slot. Midlakes will enter next week’s B1 tournament as the #2 seed.
Don’t miss this Sunday morning’s live edition of the Upstate Hoops Podcast on FingerLakes1.com (10:00 AM) where we will have all the brackets for next week’s sectional tournaments.
