Syracuse women’s basketball will face Boston College in second round of ACC Tournament

The Syracuse women’s basketball team (12-7) will face No. 13 seed Boston College in Thursday’s second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament at 2:30 p.m. on regional sports networks (YES Network in NY). The Orange earned the No. 5 seed to the 2021 ACC Tournament and are 2-0 against the Eagles this season.

Syracuse is led by Kiara Lewis (14.5 ppg) and ACC Freshman of the Year Kamilla Cardoso (14.3 ppg). The Orange are 12-7 this season and finished the regular season with a 68-61 loss to #2 NC State on Sunday. Lewis had a season-high 29 points in the game.

Boston College advanced with a 67-56 win over No. 12 seed Pitt on Wednesday afternoon. Cameron Swartz paced the Eagles with 33 points shooting 15-of-16 from the charity stripe.

In the first meeting between the two squads this season, Syracuse earned an 83-70 win on Dec. 20 over the Eagles without star point guard Tiana Mangakahia who was rehabbing a foot injury. Cardoso had 24 points while Lewis added 20 points in the Orange win. The two met again on Feb. 25 where the Orange outscored BC 92-75 and had five players in double figures. Mangakahia led the way with 19 points and seven assists while Priscilla Williams had her first career double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Syracuse is 14-1 all-time against the Eagles during head coach Quentin Hillsman’s tenure and is 1-3 against Boston College with Joanna Bernabei-McNamee on the opposite sideline.

The Orange are 7-7 all-time at the ACC Tournament and are the No. 5 seed for the fourth time since the Orange joined the league before the 2013-14 season. Thursday’s second round game is the first meeting between Syracuse and Boston College at the ACC Tournament.
