Felony arrest stems from investigation into drugs sent to Cayuga County Jail

One person faces a felony charge after an investigation into drugs that were sent to the Cayuga County Jail.

Sheriff Brian Schenck says Joshua Bilinski, 29, of Cicero was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband.

On December 12 a custody officer inspecting incoming inmate mail within the Cayuga County Jail found contraband hidden inside a holiday card that had been sent to an inmate held at the jail.

The contraband was a quantity of drugs that had been concealed in the card in an attempt to illegally introduce the substance to the jail.

An investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Billisnki, as the investigation determined that he knowingly sent the holiday card and drugs to a specific inmate.

On March 3 he was located and taken into custody. The charges will be answered at a later date.
