Court docs allege that Walworth teen shot deputy during incident at Wayne Central Middle School

There’s been more information obtained following the incident that placed the Wayne Central Middle School on lockdown earlier this week.

It happened during the morning hours on Monday when Thomas Franco, 19, of Walworth- an employee of the district- was involved in a fight with another employee.

Deputies said he had a knife. Now, we’ve learned that the deputy who was injured is said to have been shot in the foot by Franco.

Court papers obtained by 13WHAM allege that Franco used a Smith and Wesson M&P .45 caliber handgun to shoot deputy Robert Mansell in the foot.

Both were treated and released from the hospital. Franco was held on $2,500 cash bail. He’s due back in court at a later date.
