Driver’s neck sliced with knife during armed, roadside robbery in Ithaca

The Ithaca Police Department says its investigating an armed robbery that happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

The victims reported that they were driving east on W. State St. and pulled over at the 300 block near the driveway of the Ithaca Fire Department to answer a phone call.

That’s when a group of four or five people approached the car and demanded money. When it wasn’t provided, one of the males reportedly reached through the passenger window and took a backpack from the female passenger.

A male then approached the driver and said they were robbing the victims, police said. During the interaction, the male suspect used an edged weapon and sliced the neck of the driver.

The driver felt blood, got back into the vehicle, and drove to the hospital for treatment. The male victim was released from the hospital Sunday morning, according to police.
