Officials with the state DMV are warning residents about a phishing scam that has been noted around New York.
It comes in form of a text message, and asks the recipient to update their contact information using a form.
That form is linked in the text message.
When the person goes to that form, it collects their information, leaving it in the hands of identity thieves.
Only used authorized DMV forms on their official website to update information. Anything at other locations online purporting to be such is a scam.
