There have been more last second game winning shots in the Wayne-Finger Lakes in the past two weeks than you can count on one hand. Even with a light slight on Saturday we saw another one.
With 25 seconds left in Saturday’s match-up between South Seneca and Dundee in Ovid, the Scots Brady Richardson nailed a three-pointer to tie the Finger Lakes West battle at 40-40. Then, with time expiring, Kenyon Russ had the answer of his own for the Falcons…
While the late fireworks at the Jack Guinan gymnasium were the most exciting ending yesterday, the marquee match-up of day’s short slate was at Wayne High School where the host Eagles matched-up with the Geneva Panthers in a highly anticipated contest between Finger Lakes East favorites. Despite trailing in the 3rd quarter, Wayne would finish strong posting a 62-49 victory.

It is important to note that the Geneva-Wayne game is considered a non-league game. The next time they meet the game will be counted towards the league standings.
Don’t miss Sunday morning’s live edition of the Upstate Hoops Podcast at 10:00 AM where Jim Sinicropi will recap the week in the Wayne-Finger Lakes boys and girls league and look ahead to week 3 action.
