Visitation at nursing homes in New York is going to remain limited for now, state officials said on Wednesday.
Calls have been growing for increased visitation at long-term care facilities. They have effectively been on strict lockdown of visitation – with limited easements of those restrictions – since the pandemic began last March.
“I recognize it’s been very hard on the relatives of those in nursing homes,” he said. “As soon as we feel it is safe, we’ll move forward to the appropriate ways to get visitors there.”
He also noted that even with vaccinations in place, spread of the virus is still possible.
