After over 11 months, high school basketball was finally played on Monday night as the Section V season opened play in mostly empty gymnasiums and with players wearing masks. It was a different look and feel compared to the high energy, packed gyms of past seasons. But, as Gananda senior guard Andrew Gabbard told FingerLakes1.com after their opening win, “I’m just happy we get to play. Hoping we get to finish the season.”
Opening night saw the Lyons Lions boys roll to a 45 point win over North Rose-Wolcott but Cougars’ senior Quentin Norris scored his 1000th career point in the first half of his team’s loss at the Atwood Gymnasium in Lyons.
