Palmyra man charged after investigation into December 26 crash

Deputies say a Palmyra man has been charged following a personal injury crash that happened on December 26, 2020 in the town of Arcadia.

Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle that struck a tree. The operator was identified as Kirt Lockwood, 31, of Palmyra. He was driving south on Botcher Rd. when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve on Clark Rd., and continued straight – colliding with a tree.

Lockwood was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital with non-serious injuries.

On February 5 he was taken into custody after lab results showed that Lockwood was intoxicated. Deputies say his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.17%.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC over 0.08%, open container, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable, and failure to obey a traffic control device.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
