A bill aimed at creating better staff-to-patient balance in hospitals and long-term care facilities has moved out of committee.
The bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther (D, NY-100) would create a minimum nurse-to-patient ratio for hospitals and nursing homes. It moved out of the Health Committee on Tuesday.
The bill has been around for over a decade. However. Gunther believes this is the year to get it through the legislature.
Before it can go to a full-vote in the Assembly it will need to make it through two more committees.
