Days later police in Ithaca are still investigating a ‘shots fired’ incident that happened in the 500 block of Spencer Rd. on Friday around 11:45 p.m.
Officers responded to the area following multiple reports of shots fired. They searched for victims, witnesses, and possible evidence. They found witnesses who reported hearing what they described as multiple gunshots.
Those witnesses told police that they heard two sets of shots fired approximately 10 minutes apart. They called 911 after the second burst of shots were heard.
IPD located spent shell casings in the roadway, and found a residence that had been struck by a number of bullets. The occupant of the residence was not hurt, and to this point, no victims were identified.
Police urged the community to contact 911 immediately upon hearing any gunshots. The investigation is open. Anyone with information related to it should contact IPD.
