Like most other counties in the region – the Cayuga County Health Department says it will permit high school sports to resume.
Last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that the state Department of Health would clear way for high-risk high school sports to be played beginning in February.
Safety measures will be in place, like the 7-day rolling average of COVID-19 positivity needing to stay below 5%.
Health officials left the door open to stopping high school sports in the future if the rate gets too high.
Basketball and hockey will begin this upcoming week.
