The National Weather Service has expanded the winter weather advisory that is active for the Finger Lakes. It now includes most of the central part of the region.
Forecasters across the board are urging travelers to take it easy and expect changing conditions over the next 24 hours.
In addition to 3-5 inches of fresh accumulation, temperatures will crater after an Arctic front passes through. That front will also bring a quick shot of 1-2 inches of snow before the lake effect starts.

There's nothing stopping the lake flakes from flying through at least Saturday afternoon. And rule of thumb: lake effect always lasts longer than you think. It will snow in some shape, form, or fashion for a while in our area! #ROC #lakeeffect pic.twitter.com/WQHPAY5kgp
