Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that happened on High St. on Saturday, January 17th.
Around 9:07 p.m. police were dispatched to a location on High St. for the report of shots fired.
Police say they found two physically uninjured victims who said that a person in a car fired a gun at them and drove away.
The Newark Police Department worked with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne County District Attorney’s Office, and New York State Police, who together identified, located, and arrested a person on Tuesday.
The suspect was identified as Richie Stokes, 33, who was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of reckless endangerment, and one count of attempted assault – all felonies.
He’s being held on no bail at this time. Police say court action is expected in the coming days and weeks.
