Brave Women FLX to hold Virtual 100k Fundraiser

Is the long, chilly winter getting you down? Has the weather and the on-going Covid news got you in a funk?

Have no fear — Brave Women FLX has got just the thing to cheer you up, challenge you, and get you out of the house. The brave women of the Finger Lakes (Brave Women FLX) are putting on a virtual 100k fundraiser this season to inspire and support women from all over with exercise, companionship, and camaraderie, all while benefiting a worthy cause.

The brave women of the Finger Lakes are banding together for the second time to raise money, promote the beautiful region, and encourage women all at the same time. So, if you’re feeling bored, cold, or if you just have the post-holiday blues, this is a perfect event for you!

What is Brave Women FLX?

Brave Women FLX is a fundraising campaign that started in January 2020 to celebrate the centennial of the passing of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote in the United States.

Not only does the group celebrate women in general, but it highlights the historical trailblazing women that hailed from the Finger Lakes region of New York, such as Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and many others. These brave women changed the course of history and significantly impacted America, each in their own ways.

Women supporting women of the past, present, and future

The organization also hosts a comprehensive list of women-owned businesses in the Finger Lakes, such as women-owned breweries, wineries, restaurants, and boutiques. Their mission is to support women and promote tourism in the region, all while highlighting the local women who are blazing their own trails in business today.

All proceeds of the funds raised by Brave Women FLX are used to market women-owned businesses and women-focused historic sites in the Finger Lakes region, empowering the women of today while carrying on the legacy of women that made women-owned businesses possible.

Winter 100k Virtual Challenge

This year’s fundraiser is a 100k challenge, conducted virtually, to allow women from anywhere to participate. The goal is to get women out in the beautiful winter weather, whether solo or with their bravest female friends, to raise money for a worthy cause while celebrating the Finger Lakes region of New York State.

What you get

Participants are encouraged to sign-up for a reasonable fee of $20 and challenge themselves to walk, run, skate, ski, snowshoe, or stroll their way to 100k. When you sign up, you’ll receive a swag bag of branded gifts such as a neck gaiter, lip balm, and a Brave Women FLX Winter 100K shield sticker to proudly display your bravery and participation.

This is a great event to inspire women to get active, support each other in the process, and bring awareness to the Finger Lakes as a fantastic location to visit.

Fundraising in Covid times

Fundraising events and other large gatherings are becoming more difficult to host, manage, and carry out, creating a challenge for charitable organizations. While Zoom birthday parties may be the new standard for many, it doesn’t mean that fundraising events are doomed to fail.

Luckily, the internet has come to the rescue, allowing for people to “come together” from afar, all while promoting events and community when we may not be able to actually gather. With the help of modern technology and a bit of creative thinking, fundraising ventures can be just as successful (if not more so) in Covid times than they have been in the past.

Real success with virtual events

Virtual events have become the norm over the last year, due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the need to keep socially-distanced. Hosting fundraisers on a virtual platform has a plethora of benefits, such as saving money, enabling people to participate from any location, as well as abide by social distancing measures mandated by law. Not only are they a safe and practical alternative to in-person events, many times they are easier to organize and more effective.

Another idea to both raise money and support local businesses is organizing a virtual event in collaboration with the Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack. Local and national organizations are almost always willing to lend a hand in helping to support charitable activities, while at the same time promoting awareness of their brands, enterprise, and missions. Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack other services include horse racing, bars and dining, and even plenty of slots that rival online operators, which means an online casino-themed event may even be possible.

Bravely take on winter

Online or virtual fundraising is one of the best ways to raise money for your cause in modern and uncertain times. Virtual fundraising events have the potential to help you raise more with less effort than you ever thought possible and this 100k virtual challenge is no exception.

The Brave Women FLX 100k Challenge provides connectivity, community, and funds for an influential cause, empowering women on multiple levels in the tough times when we need it the most. So get out there and enjoy winter!
